Exhibition
at a exhibition case in the hallway by T57 Human Ecology Building
between September 24 and October 18, 2012
Huiju Park, assistant professor in Fiber Science and Apparel Design, in collaboration with graduate students Kristen Morris, Robert Flint and professor Susan Ashdown, and a visiting fiber scientist Youngjin Jung, will present a multi-disciplinary work of apparel design and science research. The team created a wet-suit type outfit with incorporated temperature adjusting functions based on research by apparel designers and fiber scientists. Using computer graphics and digital textile printing, the team will pay tribute to sea life aesthetic imagery directly onto fabric and apply surface manipulation techniques to express their theme "migration for a new habitat." This project was accepted for exhibition in the juried international design competition, the 2012 annual fiber art and design competition of International Textile and Apparel Association (Honolulu, HI).
