Hearing Visibilities

Performance & Music
August 29 - September 5, 2019
Presented by Piyawat Louilarpprasert

This multimedia music and art performance aims to create a scene of a situation which primarily focuses on instrumental physicality and hearing sensibility. At the same time, it creates a deconstruction of its instrumental bodies and performer’s actions with both live and pre-recorded video processing, and electronics. Both visual and sonic elements lead to a situation that oscillates between certainty and uncertainty, connectivity and dis-connectivity – where the performers’ game deceives the audience with regard to both indeterminacies and illusions of their performance. Moreover, this situation creates aural/visual dissonances and disorientation between “Sight and Sound”. This is the collaboration between Cornell/CCCP composers, lead by Piyawat Louilarpprasert and both visiting artists, Guillermo Presa and Pisol Manatchinapisit and the doctoral candidate in music composition at Cornell University, Sergio Cote. This event would enhance the musical aesthetics of the Ithaca community and invite both musicians, artists and the general public to find new conceptions of music and arts of today while exploring the individual ideas found within Cornell’s distinguished composition department.
