CU Winds welcomes guest composer and conductor Patrick Williams. Having composed the music for over 65 feature films, 100 television films, 25 television series, and 30 concert works, Mr. Williams has received four Emmy awards with 22 nominations, two Grammy awards with 19 nominations, and an Academy Award nomination.  The residency will culminate in a concert in which the Cornell Jazz Band directed by Paul Merrill will present a set of Mr. Williams’s classic big band music, and the Cornell Wind Symphony directed by James Spinazzola will present a new arrangement of An American Concerto (1976), originally written for jazz quartet and symphony orchestra.
