"Talavya don't just play Indian classical music, they transcend its dogma, break free off its burden of inertia and bring a vibe of dynamism to the static. They do so without losing their cultural moorings, and holding in reverence their art's traditions, history and ethos that they've inherited. For me, Talavya is evolutionary. They're taking Indian classical music forward." - Akshath Jitendranath, Fireflies Festival of Music.
Globe-trotting percussion ensemble Talavya brings a dynamism to the art of tabla, infusing it with the power of rock drumming while respecting the ethos and tradition of the classical art form. Composed by Pandit Divyang Vakil, played in perfect synchronization, the ensemble distills the spirit of tabla into a high-energy performance and demonstrates how the drum is truly capable of anything.
