Mike Compitello, as Director of Percussion at Cornell University, has been a dynamic advocate for contemporary music, both on campus and off. In addition to leading the Cornell Percussion Group and Steel Band Ensemble, he has been been actively enriching the concert scene at Cornell, collaborating with Cornell-based performers, composers, artists, and esteemed guest artists. As part of new music duo New Morse Code, he and Ms. Collins have commissioned and championed compelling new works by young composers.
For their Cornell performance, Kettle Corn New Music will present a concert by New Morse Code, bringing their fun and unique concert experience to a new audience, while enriching the artistic life at Cornell. The concert will include the world premiere of a work by Cornell composer Loren Loiacono, as well as works by Cornell composer Tonia Ko, and composers Emily Cooley and Ryan Harper.
