Composer and conductor Tania León is a vital personality and distinctive voice in contemporary music, and is equally recognized for her accomplishments as an educator and adviser to arts organizations.  León will present her music to the undergraduate composers’ organization Contrapunkt and the Cornell Composers’ Forum, and also speak to her unique and multi-faceted career.  The residency will conclude with a performance by the Cornell Symphony Orchestra featuring three of León’s compositions -Ascend (1983), Batá (1985), and Kabiosile (1988) - conducted by James Spinazzola and Chris Younghoon Kim, with pianist Ryan McCullough.
