Barnes Hall Auditorum
A multi-media concert featuring dramatic and theatrical music from post-war Germany: Karlheinz Stockhausen’s explosive Kontakte, for piano, percussion, and electronics, and Mauricio Kagel’s Match, where a percussionist serves as referee for a competition between two dueling cellists. The concert will also include Stockhausen’s Gesang der Jünglinge, one of the first masterpieces of electronic music.
Featuring Iktus Percussion Duo, cellists Ashley Bathgate and Hannah Collins, and percussionist Michael Compitello. The event will also include a pre-concert discussion between noted Stockhausen expert and Cornell Mellon Fellow Paul Miller and the performers.
