The inaugural Centrally Isolated Film Festival (CIFF) brings together the central New York student film community through recognition of student work. Narrative, documentary and experimental films produced during a student's undergraduate or graduate career at any central New York college or university may be submitted. Students' work will be reviewed upon submission and the best films will be chosen for the festival. Guests from the film industry will serve on the jury and award the prize for Best Film. Films will be no more than 20 minutes long.
This year's festival features two screenings of undergraduate student short films from throughout the region, along with a Q&A with Will Gluck, ’93, director of Fired Up! (2009), Easy A (2010), Friends with Benefits (2011), and currently directing episodes of the Michael J. Fox Show. On Saturday evening the winner of the film festival will be announced at Stella’s Restaurant, Bar and Café.
Saturday’s screening is followed by a panel of industry specialists, including Tim Squyres, ’81, two-time Oscar nominated editor of the Life of Pi (2012) and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000); Diane Raver, founder of the Garden State Film Festival; Ernesto Quiñonez, author of Bodega Dreams (2000) and Chango’s Fire (2004) and Hugues Barbier, co-founder and artistic director of the “Ithaca International Fantastic Film Festival.”
