Butterflies: Nabokov and Musical Miniatures

Presented by Xak Bjerken, Professor, Cornell Department of Music 

Violinist Vesselin Gellev and Cornell Music professor Xak Bjerken will present a set of Russian and Russian-inspired musical miniatures with two commissions by Cornell second-year DMA composers, Tonia Ko and Loren Loiacono, based on a short poem written while Gellev taught at Cornell.

Concertmaster of the London Philharmonic, Vesselin Gellev was born in Bulgaria and has been a featured soloist with the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Juilliard Orchestra and the London Philharmonic, among others.
