Ken Pierce: Baroque Dance Residency Performance

Performance & Music
October 24, 2013 at 12:30pm
Lincoln Hall, Room B20

As a part of his residency, Ken Pierce will perform at Midday Music in Lincoln Hall. Pierce's fall residency, which will bring to Cornell one of the leading historical dancers in the US, will enrich a course on the relationships between music and dance that concerns a period when dance music saturated genres such as the suite, sonata, symphony, opera, and even sacred music. This new course, which is aimed at juniors, seniors, and graduate students with either a music or dance background, will involve not just reading, listening, and discussion, but making music and learning how to dance 18th-century style.
