April 20 - 26, 2013
April 26 at 8pm: Artist reception and improvisational music by Annie Lewandowski.
Rupture is an interdisciplinary collaboration between artists, engineers, and scientists from across the Cornell community engaged in research, experimentation, and performance to activate the laboratory as site of critical inquiry and cultural production. This initiative looks at the discursive role of contemporary art in an academic setting as a mediating voice between disciplines, as well as the roles of art as an autonomous actor within the networks of competition and aggression in bureaucratic cultural systems. Research and findings will be open to the public and presented in the form of an exhibition and final event in Downtown Ithaca.
