On October 20th, the Pakistani Students Association will celebrate Chaand Raat (the night before Eid – the biggest Muslim Holiday) with a Qawwali Night.
Spend the rich, cultural celebration of Chaand Raat enjoying classical Pakistani music with the talented Riyaaz Qawwali. Join in on dancing, henna tattoos, delicious food and various other performances.
Qawwali is a venerable yet refreshing musical tradition that dates back to the late 13th century. It is an amazing genre of music, with lively rhythmic cycles, gripping melodies and a unique approach to adding improvisational poetry. Riyaaz Qawwali consists of five talented young men who seek to reinterpret the traditional art of “Qawwali” in the modern context and increase its appeal to younger audiences while maintaining the richness and culture that is at its essence.
