The CCA supports numerous arts-related events and projects each year.. Documentation from grant-supported projects completed and presented, artist award presentations, and CCA-initiated projects are archived, including exhibitions, performances, lectures, individual artist and department-generated projects, concerts, installations, and publications.
Listed below is a sample of projects supported by the CCA from 2001 to 2017.
3PM, Barnes Hall
Contrapunkt!, a music composition student organization at Cornell University, will present its second annual multi-disciplinary concert featuring compositions inspired by student works of art. Composer, President of Contrapunkt!, and director of the event, Liza Sobel is collaborating with Cornell's Undergraduate Artist of the Year, Roxanne Yamins, to create an art installation that will be integral to the composition and enhance the sound. Alex Hallenbeck will collaborate with artist Jennifer Dumler; composer John Seregos will collaborate with artist Nevena Pilipovic-Wengler; composer Paul Hwang will collaborate with artist LaiYee Lori, and composer Sophia Orzechowski will collaborate with artist Lindsay Levine. Composer Jon Eckahus will also collaborate with artist Yamins to create a sound and visual art installation that will be featured throughout the week leading up to the concert as well as performed at the concert.
Invited musicians: Christopher Demetriou, percussion; Stephen Gorgone, viola; Terrance Griswold, clarinet; Sarah Hoag, violin; Andrew Sak, flute; Liza Sobel, soprano; and Patrick Valentino, conductor. Other musicians are students from Ithaca College's conservatory.
