STAGE/SOUND

CORNELL CONTEMPORARY CHAMBERS PLAYERS WITH INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE (ICE)

Stage/Sound

Cornell Contemporary Chamber Players (CCCP) present a program in conjunction with New York City’s International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) which features an evening of work by Cornell graduate student composers that is rooted in the performative aspect of sound as a means of theatricality. The way in which sound is produced and listened to outside of and within the concert hall is a grand performance in itself, each sound, and place in which sound is made, carries a great load of cultural weight and baggage. ICE and CCCP will work to explore this baggage, toy with different notions of sound production, and investigate the intimate relationships between performativity and place, vulnerability and volatility, and the persistent entanglement of the theater and sound.
