The Bubble

The Bubble

As the effects of COVID-19 swept across the United States, production of live performances came to a screeching halt leaving 1.3 million entertainment arts workers without jobs. As theaters have remained dark in the United States for nearly a year, artists and the live performance organizations they work for have been tasked with taking direct action toward making the production and presentations of performances an equitable experience through anti-racism and anti-ableist initiatives. The Bubble (designed with current and future pandemics in mind with a physically distanced audience configuration) is a hypothetical architectural concept with the core value of making live performance a socially equitable experience through radically reimagining the production and presentation of live performances. With a community-based curation approach, everyone has access to The Bubble as a performer and as an audience member regardless of social position. The Bubble belongs to everyone.
