Michelle Wu

Michelle Wu is a multidisciplinary artist with a concentration in traditional printmaking practices and installation. Born in Taipei and growing up in Hong Kong, she is primarily concerned with notions of existentialism, memory, and self-perception. Since witnessing her grandmother’s battle with Alzheimer’s, Michelle has spent the past few years investigating the relationship between the nature of memory and the passage of time through both psychological and philosophical perspectives. She is currently exploring the realm of trauma, drawing from her own childhood experiences in attempt to visualize the act of recollection as it manifests itself in one’s past, present, and future, and moves through time in a way that goes beyond the dichotomy of cyclical versus linear. Michelle will receive her BFA from Cornell University with minors in Art History and Business in May 2020.
