A collaboration between the Cornell Costume & Textile Collection, Lab of Ornithology, and the Cornell Museum of Vertebrates, “Fashion & Feathers” explores the nebulous line between inspiration and exploitation. Birds are an endless source of inspiration for fashion and textile designers; however, birds are also exploited for their feathers and some species hunted to extinction for their plumes. This exhibition highlights the beauty and the tragedy of feathers in fashion to tell the story of birds and their influence on clothing across the globe.
