Cultural Confluence @ Cornell

Performance & Music
November 17, 2017; 5pm
Willard Straight Hall
Presented by Sahana Natesan (BS '20)

In today’s day and age, diversity and the inclusion of a multitude of cultures is an essential part of the functionality and sustainability of our society. India, a country famous for its rich cultural heritage is known for its engagement in the arts, especially in the fields of classical dance and music. Transposed into modern day, the traditional aspects of the art forms are often modified to fit the societal advancements of 2017. The following program seeks to juxtapose traditional Indian classical art forms with their modern, modified counterparts to explore how the culture is preserved in a place like Cornell University.
