Breath, Contained

Visual + Media Arts
March 26, 2015
8pm, Sibley Hall Dome
Presented by Tonia Ko

Breath, Contained is an exploration of bubble wrap as a medium for both visual art and music. Created by composer/artist Tonia Ko, Breath, Contained consists of an installation of large sheets of painted bubble wrap under the Sibley Dome and the premiere of a composition for bubble wrap and electronics, featuring percussionist Michael Compitello and Sandbox Percussion Quartet.  The concert event will pair Ko’s work with percussion ensemble works by Mark Applebaum and Steve Reich that draw upon both the connections between visual art and music and use found objects as musical instruments.
