Ritwak Ghatak (1925-1976) is considered one of India's greatest directors along with Satyajit Ray, although Ghatak's films have never been distributed in the United States. In May 2000 the Council for the Arts awarded Ifeoma N. Ebo ('02), an architecture student, a grant for a photography project that supported a photographic journey through West Africa.
