Presented by Jared Curtis, B.Arch '16, "Virtually..." tackles the convergence of photographic representation and algorithmically produced imagery. Through a variety of approaches and juxtapositions, a series of indistinguishable analog and digital modelings of an intangible reality reduce the concreteness of the self (portrait) to the status of an avatar.
This exhibition and publication embraces a dualist mindset of self-perception in order to heighten an unnaturally absent disbelief in the legitimacy of "faked" renderings.
The complete photographic study will be donated in print to the Fine Arts Library in 2014 as a tool for public education and use by classes.
