CCA Grant Program Information 2011-12
The CCA is pleased to announce the 2011-12 Grant Program. In Fall, 2010 the Provost allocated supplementary funds to the CCA for two years specifically to support this program while the CCA transitions to a new funding and activity model. The 2011-12-grant program is therefore a transition model, and will likely be repeated in similar format and scope during the 2012-13 academic year.
There are some changes to the size and number of awards, and a simplification of the application procedures. The CCA grants will be awarded annually rather than semi-annually. There will continue to be two general categories of grants, one for faculty / programs / departments, and the other for students/student organizations. In the first category, grants will carry a maximum award of ,500, and the CCA plans to award up to 15 such grants. In the second category, grants will carry a maximum award of ,000, and the CCA plans to award up to 25 such grants.
The CCA will continue to provide support to Cornell Cinema and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art as it has historically, although for 2011-12 this will be in the form of block grants pegged to past grant levels. The overall CCA grant fund has been increased over last year by about 10% to support this new scope. The application process is described under each grant category.
FACULTY / DEPARTMENTS / PROGRAMS
The Cornell Council for the Arts is pleased to announce the 2011-12 Grant Program - an annual program to advance the work of students and faculty pursuing projects in the arts. This year's model, modified from previous years, will likely be repeated during the 2012-13 academic year.
For 2011-12, students, staff and student organization grants will carry a maximum award of ,000, and the CCA plans to award up to 25 such grants. Faculty / Department / Program grants will carry a maximum award of ,500, and the CCA plans to award up to 15 such grants.
Grants to Faculty / Departments / Programs support creative projects that are original in nature, and are wholly constituted by the individual faculty, visiting artist, group of faculty, faculty working collaboratively with students on independent research, or departments. These projects may engage any singular art form or any mixture of art forms, and may be exhibited, presented, or performed in on-campus venues as well as off-campus venues.
Work that expands the boundaries of a particular discipline and work that crosses multiple disciplines will be given preference over works that relate to a single discipline. Faculty and departments/units are encouraged to use this grant as an opportunity to experiment, and to cultivate new forms of artistic production that may be difficult to engage within the traditional classroom setting; as well as an opportunity to form fluid collaborations between artists and non-artists.
Applications for CCA Grants are due to the CCA by October 21, 2011.
Successful applicants will be notified in November 2011. Retroactive projects completed between September 1 - October 21, 2011, may be considered for funding. Grants up to ,500 for art projects proposed by Cornell-affiliated faculty, departments, and programs.
